A million views, every single day.
This year marks the 150th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation. What a great time to get out and see some of this great land of ours. And when we say “see”, we mean really get out there, take a look and see some of the many wonders that can be found from coast to coast.
In this digital age, it’s fairly common that when we discuss “views”, we’re talking about the number of times a video has been seen. The latest viral hits, YouTube stars, the Beebs, and of course thousands of cat videos – all measure their worth by views.
So then, consider Canada. 10,000,000 km2 of ultra-high definition scenery, and all we have to do is remember to look. Newfoundland’s Iceberg Alley; low tide on the Bay of Fundy; Canada Day fireworks, seen from any of the bridges between Ottawa and Hull; the Great Lakes, from any vantage point; polar bears in Churchill, Manitoba; dancing, waving grasslands under big skies in Saskatchewan; Northern Lights in the Yukon; the Jasper Icefields, and really any view in the Rocky Mountains; the sunset and surf at Tofino on Vancouver Island. The list goes on and on – literally wherever you choose to cast a glance.
One of our favourite views: the lakes of Northern Saskatchewan, as seen from 38,000 feet. The Land of Living Skies is home to roughly 100,000 lakes. All silvery blue and shimmering, they are evidence of the glacial movement that created the Canadian Shield eons ago. To look is to be reminded of Canada’s sheer vastness.
At WestJet, we pride ourselves on being the most Canadian Canadian airline. We’re fortunate to be able to touch down all across this amazing country. And so, another of our favourite Canadian sights is to witness the excitement and anticipation of WestJet guests as we take them to destinations from coast to coast. We know that we’ll be seeing more of that excitement this year, and we hope to be seeing you as you get out and immerse yourself in the awesomeness that’s around every corner, over every hill, and just about everywhere you look in Canada.
