Think Canada’s North isn’t a foodie destination? Think again. Maybe it’s something to do with the dancing northern lights or the 24 hours of sun in the summer, but Whitehorse is cooking up some amazing meals.
We’ve planned out a whole day of perfect food stops for a delicious Whitehorse visit:
Start the day off with heading to the Burnt Toast Cafe. For a savoury breakfast, try the Huevos Rancheros, but if you prefer a sugary kick-off to the day, don’t miss the amazing Croissant French Toast.
Where: 2112 2nd Avenue
When: Weekday breakfast starts at 8am, weekend brunch at 9:30am

Not many people know this but the Yukon has a thriving organic food scene and this is clearly evident at local cafe "Balzam"! I had just polished off an egg and cheese panini at another local cafe when we called into Balzam and I was tempted to make room for Poutine and Crepes! What is Poutine you may ask? Poutine is a Canadian DELICACY of hot chips, cheese curds and gravy and here they are served deconstructed with vegan gravy. My heaven! @TravelYukon #ExploreYukon
After a long swim and soak at the outdoor Takhini hot springs, walk over to Café Balzam next door. This cafe does unreal crepes inspired by local ingredients. Try the La Matante, a mix of elk, beef, and Canadian goose seasoned with a boreal spice blend and served with a peppery black currant preserve, or La Wild Mama, wild mushrooms in a whisky and rosemary cream sauce. Finish with one of the delectable dessert crepes featuring caramelized apples with maple and birch syrup or grilled pears and candied hazelnuts.
Where: km10 Takhini Hot Springs Road
When: Thursday to Friday 4pm-10pm, Saturday to Sunday 12pm-10pm

Had rack of lamb at Antoinette's, a restaurant serving Caribbean-inspired food. Simply delicious! #travel #foodporn #food #whitehorse #yukon #canada #caribbean #lamb #lambrack #meat #follower #followforfollow #follow4follow #follow #instalike #instafollow #instadaily #instagramhub #instagood #likeme #like4like #liker #likeforlike #love
We couldn’t pick just one! Antoinette’s is a delectable fusion restaurant somewhere on the spectrum between Canadian, East Indian, and Thai, with a Caribbean swerve. Their curry chicken and shrimp stew (with fried dough on the side) is the best on a cold Yukon day, followed by Carribbean lemon chicken or the perfectly seasoned rack of lamb.

😋Made our trip all the way up to Whitehorse, of course we gotta try some "wild meat"!!! Ordered the "Kickass Klondiker Burger", a meat blend of elk, bison, and wild boar! Very tasty and filling..filled us right up before our hike on the Chilkoot Trail! #ugottatrythis #yummy #nomnomnom #yegfoodie #yegfoodblogger #wildmeat #wildmeatburger #klondikeribandsalmon #kickassklondikerburger #burgerlover #foodporn #whitehorseeats #yukoneats #whitehorsefoodie #imsofull #sweetpotatoefries #ilovefood #gastropost
Then there’s the unmissable Klondike Rib & Salmon BBQ, with its “World Famous” halibut and chips with homemade tartar sauce and the legendary Kick Ass Klondike Burger—the patty is made of elk, bison, and wild boar. Try the salmon burger, reindeer stew, or the bison steak with a wild berry sage reduction. Vegetarians, never fear—they also do a mean veggie burger with excellently crispy fries.
Where: 2116 2nd Avenue
When: Open from mid-May to mid-September
